Dear Book Lover,
Who would you like to see at the Dahlonega Literary Festival? The Dahlonega Literary Festival Steering Committee invites you to join us the second weekend in November–this year, November 9-11, 2012–for the 9th Annual Dahlonega Literary Festival! This year’s festival will be held at venues all around Dahlonega, with author readings, panel discussions, book signings and children’s events. All of these events, as well as Sunday’s keynote speaker address, are free.
The Dahlonega Literary Festival is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization Ours is an intimate festival about books and authors. Our mission is to promote interaction between readers and writers in a relaxed, informal environment. Those attending the festival have an opportunity to meet the authors up close and personal. In addition to speaking events and book signings, attendees have the opportunity to have lunch with their favorite authors at a local restaurant or attend our dinner extravaganza on Saturday. Our children’s programs encourage young readers to become involved with the festival through programs such as last year’s “Tea with Madeline,” geared to specific age groups.
Past authors have included Steve Berry, Diana Gabaldon, Mary Kay Andrews), Catherine Coulter, Sheldon Siegel and Terry Kay. Our 2012 Author Selection Committee is working hard to schedule authors you want to meet, including Doris Kearns Goodwin, Jeffrey Deaver, Pat Conroy and Rick Bragg. We hope you will come to see your favorite authors and meet other, lesser-known authors who may become your favorites as well.
How much would you pay for the opportunity to meet your favorite author? As you would imagine, speaking fees for well-known authors can cost many thousand dollars, and we need your financial support to make our event a success. Your tax-deductible contribution will help with these fees, travel expenses and lodging for the authors you want to see, and helps ensure most festival events remain free of charge. As a patron, you will receive the benefits listed on the Patron Response Form. Most importantly, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you have preserved and advanced the literary arts in Dahlonega.
